Sonya Qamar

Class of 2017

My summer internship with the Family Planning initiative for the United Nations Foundation availed invaluable opportunities to work instrumentally with women’s sexual and reproductive health rights. My work here involved bridging cross-team collaboration to ensure effective and unified work results. This involvement gave me a deeper appreciation for the importance of communication and teamwork. Some of my daily responsibilities involved working with a small grants team to identify eligible global candidates for family planning based funding, co-coordination of logistics for global conferences and Board of Directors meetings, and research on international rights based activists and advocates for women’s and adolescent’s sexual and reproductive health rights. This opportunity gave me a sound understanding of how important international partnerships are to the growth and sustainability of global initiatives.
