Carrie Freshour

Ph.D. Candidate

Carrie is currently conducting her fieldwork in Northeast Georgia, where she is studying the gendered and racialized practices of social reproduction among Black and Latina poultry workers. Specifically, she is interested in how the particular experiences of work on the line at the poultry plant both shape and are shaped by women's social positions and place-making strategies beyond the plant walls. This research reflects her broader interests in the political economy of food work and processes of racialization in the American South."
