Community Resources Responding to the Coronavirus (COVID-19)

(DRYDEN, ITHACA, GROTON, LANSING, TRUMANSBURG, AND NEWFIELD SCHOOL MEALS INFORMATION IS AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS E-MAIL)

  • Call your doctor BEFORE you go to the doctor’s office or hospital.  There is now a drive-through COVID-19 testing place, if you have a referral from your doctor.
  • Call 607-272-1616 if you have a mental health crisis (Suicide Prevention and Crisis Services of Ithaca)
  • Health Insurance:
    • If you don’t have health insurance, you can still enroll in the NYS Marketplace until April 15, 2020 (https://nystateofhealth.ny.gov/) – call the Tompkins County Human Services Coalition at 607-273-8686, press 1, for help applying.
  • Call 2-1-1 for questions about local resources
  • COVID-19 Hotline for questions (not emergencies): 315-464-3979
  • Internet:
    • Spectrum will offer free internet for new customers with K-12 and college students in the household beginning 3/16/20 for 60 days. Families can call (844) 488-8395 to enroll. No installation fees for households with K-12 and college students. Customers will need to pay the regular price after the 60-day period if the customers don’t cancel or change the service before then.
  • Electricity and Gas:
    • NYSEG: If you are concerned about paying your bill due to the ongoing public health crisis, they can help with programs to manage bills and maintain service. Call at 800.572.1111 Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. to speak with a representative about the options.
  • Food:
    • Loaves & Fishes - All are welcome (210 N. Cayuga Street). All meals are free and will now be served to-go. Pick up at Cayuga St. door: Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Noon-1. Tuesdays & Thursdays 5:30-6:30.

  • Schools and school meals:
  • All Tompkins County Schools will be closed through April 12th 
  • Dryden Central School District:
    • Food Pick Up for free/reduced lunch students at Dryden Middle School, Monday 4-7
    • Food will be brought out to car trunk.

    • Food donations can be made to the district office 8 AM-3 PM, Monday-Friday, through the extended school closure. Unused items will be donated to the Dryden Family Meal Connection and Dryden Kitchen Cupboard.
  • Ithaca City School District
    • Meals for any students who need them, Monday through Friday from 8am-9am and 10:45am-12:15pm.
    • Meal pickup in the parking lots at: Beverly J. Martin Elementary School, Caroline Elementary School, DeWitt Middle School, Enfield Elementary School, Lehman Alternative Community School, and South Hill Elementary School. Those without transportation or who can’t leave their homes can call 2-1-1 the day before to arrange food delivery.
  • Groton Central School District
    • Breakfast and lunch to all students starting Wednesday, March 18th at the elementary school or the junior-senior high school for a “grab-and-go” delivery method. School buses will also be providing delivery of food for those families in need of meals that reside outside of village limits.
    • We will be distributing remote learning materials to all students in grades 6-12 on Tuesday, March 17th from 7:30am to 5:00pm. Families are asked to come to the Jr-Sr High Entrance to pick up student Chromebooks and five days of instructional work. Any student unable to pick up their materials on Tuesday will receive them Wednesday, March 18th at their home between the hours of 9:30am and noon via school bus delivery.
  • Lansing Central School District
    • Lansing Lunchbox- Please sign up to get a box of FREE breakfast and lunch food for all children in your family designed to last for two weeks. This program is open to all Lansing School families.   No names are needed, but we do need a valid email and phone number so we can remind you to pick up your box.
    • PICK UP at the Community Recreation Center (The Rink - 1767 East Shore Drive (Route 34) in Lansing) Friday, March 20 3:00pm-6:00pm OR Saturday, March 21 10:00am-noon
  • Trumansburg Central School District
    • Food Distributions are available on Mondays and Wednesdays from March 16 - April 8, 2020, between 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. at the High School Flag Pole (Please stay in your vehicle and your meal(s) will be brought to you)
    • TIME for DELIVERY: Between 2:45 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. (Someone must be home to receive perishable food items)

  • Newfield Central School District
    • Breakfast/Lunch Grab and Go:
    • Beginning Wednesday, March 18, we will have breakfast and lunch available for any child between the ages of 1-18.  
    • The breakfast/lunch grab bag will be available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, March 18-April 3, between 11:30 and 1:30 in the elementary parking lot.  The bags on Monday and Wednesday will provide enough meals for two days. 
    • An adult will bring the bag lunches out to your car.
