DATE OF ANNOUNCEMENT: Mid December.

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION: Mid March.

ELIGIBILITY: Faculty member must have demonstrated a commitment to the food and agricultural sciences and must hold a full-time appointment as a tenured faculty member with responsibility for undergraduate and/or graduate instruction in an area of the food and agricultural sciences.

SPECIFICS: Dossier shall include:

• nomination -- essential background information on the nominee
• summary vita -- education, professional experience, teaching awards and honors, other professional honors, and professional development
• nominee's statement on teaching philosophy -- concise statements on his/her teaching philosophy, interest in students, and strategies for advancing the learning process
• teaching experience -- courses taught, student advising, teaching methodology, and service to the teaching profession
• teaching quality assessment
• appendix

Evaluation criteria: student and peer evaluation of classroom teaching; endorsement by an administrator, alumnus and colleague; teaching methodology; service to the teaching profession; philosophy of teaching; service to students; and professional development. Official nomination forms must be used. Winners will be selected by late summer, and awards will be made in the fall at a gala celebration of teaching excellence.
