Building the Team: this Seminar will focus on talent identification and recruitment in the entrepreneurial context. It will cover how to legally and effectively identify candidates to best meet your organization's staffing needs and how to use the hiring process effectively as an extension of your organizational brand. Specific topics include what you can and can't ask in a job interview; laws related to background and reference checks; whether to have employment agreements, and, if so, what they should contain; and how to design an interview process that maximizes your odds of finding the "right" candidate for your business or organization.
Presenters:
Risa Mish, a graduate of Cornell University and Cornell Law School, teaches critical thinking, problem solving, and leadership at the Johnson School of Management and is Principal of Risa M. Mish, Esq., a labor and employment law and human capital consulting practice providing services to businesses and non-profit organizations.
Pam Strausser, Harvard BA, Cornell MS from the School of Industrial and Labor Relations, teaches and consults to faculty on issues of leadership, governance, performance management and conflict resolution for the department of Organizational Development Services, and is President of Cosmos Hill Associates, consulting to leaders in all market sectors on strategic organization change, performance management and conflict.
